My faucet water pump thing has been acting up a bit, just whirring and not pumping water. It started doing that a whole lot more recently, so I went looking for a replacement. I found one that not only includes the faucet but also a base made specifically to sit on a table instead of directly on top of a five-gallon water jug. Even better, it’s white, which matches the sink/counter I made out of a fish-cleaning table. So I got it.
It arrived just before I left Wayne’s house, so I slapped a little tape on the base and called it good for the drive to Quartzsite. It’ll sit on a table, but there’s no way to bolt it down for travel. But at least I had a faucet that worked now, and I could make it better when I was done traveling. I picked up some white duct tape at Walmart to replace the grey tape I’d used temporarily. Almost right next to the tape area, I spotted some cheap hot glue guns for sale. They’re useful for many things and would be perfect for this application, so I grabbed that, too.

I simply filled in the small gap between the base and the table with hot glue. One corner of the base overhangs the sink a little bit, but after the glue dried it held so well that I could grab the base and shake the table with it. Problem solved, and it looks much better than my janky old setup with the faucet on top of a pool noodle.
My only disappointment was that after receiving it, I realized that other than the color, the faucet itself is identical to my old one that failed. I hope it lasts longer than six months this time. But if it doesn’t, I can get a different design and use it with this base. Who knows, maybe I can even fix the old one when I have time to open it up and look inside. I haven’t thrown it away so I can give that a try.

This dragonfly decided to hang out on top of my van’s radio antenna for a little while yesterday.

That’s not the sunset, but the full moon rising over my camp. The small dot just below it is Jupiter. I took this picture with my phone, but I got my DSLR out to play a bit, too. Ironically, it was too dark for me to see the controls to set a long exposure. I’ll play with it another time. My phone still takes an amazingly good picture, even though it struggles in low-light conditions.
