After being postponed for Sunday’s wind storm, the Meet in Q Halloween party took place Monday night, followed by the Lit Cactus Halloween party on Tuesday night. I didn’t get any other pictures because it was mostly dark. I caught up with a whole bunch more friends I hadn’t seen since getting back to Quartzsite, yet still managed to miss several others. These larger gatherings aren’t as much to my liking, and the Lit Cactus shindig, in particular, was huge. That’s just my personal preference. Plenty of people had a great time at both of these, and I got a few good reactions to my check engine light “costume,” so it was worth going.
Other than that, I’ve had my nose to the grindstone catching up on work, as well as taking on some overflow at ADVRider due to one of the main writers being out of commission. I’d be caught up on those, too, except more articles keep coming my way as fast as I can write them. I’m not complaining. It’s just been a bit hard to keep up, including keeping up writing on here. But I know people start to worry if I don’t post anything for a few days, so even though not a lot has gone on, this one’s for you.

Yellow Wolf has left Quartzsite to spend the holidays with her family in California. Before she left, though, she gave me some pieces of her failed screen tent to put to use. The frame that supports it broke, but what used to be the front door of the tent can fit quite well into my side door. Here it’s just held up with magnets. I need to trim it to size and work out a better way to install it when I need it, not to mention teach Lister how to get in and out. The flies have been pretty bad here, but for simplicity I’ve just put my old curtain back up that I used in Oregon. The screen is much nicer, but it’ll take some work to install it properly.
I’m looking forward to the weekend. I haven’t had a day off work since arriving in Quartzsite, and I’m feeling the burnout setting in. A motorcycle ride will do me some good, and I’ll probably meet a local friend I made at the Rocky Mtn Roll for a ride on Saturday. It sounds like we could both use some wind therapy, so that will be good. I’m not sure where we’re going yet, but I always trust the locals to show me the good stuff.
