QST Member Spotlight

Normally, I write the articles. This time, I’m the subject of an article. A few months ago, an editor of QST, the American Radio Relay League member magazine, contacted me. She had found this website and was interested in my fusion of amateur radio and van life. She wanted to write one of their monthly Member Spotlight articles about me. I said yes, and the result is on page 13 of the January 2025 issue!

We cover a bit about my background, how I got into ham radio, and what I do with it. Van life comes up a lot, but also my radio work for rally events in the northeast, like the New England Forest Rally, and the Northeast Rally Radio Club (callsign W1RLY, or W1-Rally) that I helped found before starting my travels. They did a great job with the article. I could brag that I gave them excellent material, but they asked good questions to get the information they were looking for and presented everything I told them about accurately. I even got to copy edit a couple of typos in the sample copy they sent me before publication.
