I took a second ride out there and had a completely different adventure than the one I wrote about before. This time I shot video.
Interesting note: I took this ride the day after my first adventure. Less than 24 hours after I snapped this picture, the magic tree overhanging the road was gone.
I wonder if it fell, or if the Forest Service pre-emptively removed it before it fell and blocked the road.
