There’s a lot of misinformation out there about how you have to set up “Dishy,” the Starlink satellite antenna, in order to connect to the internet. I debunked a common myth here.
Internet wisdom says that you need a 100% clear sky to connect. That’s just not true. You do need a good view of the NORTH sky, which is what you see in the thumbnail image. My van blocks the view to the east, and a hill blocks the view to the west. But I had flawless internet in the middle of nowhere, Idaho, with this view to the north. I didn’t even have my usual height advantage that I do when I’m using my mast, because I didn’t feel like disconnecting my trailer from the van for such a short stay. Even sitting on the ground, Starlink worked great.
